There are two brake cables in your AM1 packaging. For this step we will be using the shorter one (as highlighted).

You will also need the 5mm hex key from your tool kit.

Remove the inner steel cable from the outer cable casing, by pulling on the anchor at the end of the cable.

The cable will simply pull out of the outer cable casing.

We will be installing this ‘Front brake’ on our right hand lever. Depending on your region you may want to install this on the left hand lever. The process is the same, no matter which way round you would like your brakes to be set up.

Pull the brake lever against the grip and insert the inner cable anchor into the receiver within the brake lever.

Next align the barrel adjuster and nut with the slot in the back of the brake lever.

Feed the cable along the brake lever and through the barrel adjuster and nut.

Gently release the pressure on the lever, ensuring the cable stays within the slot along the back of the lever as shown.

Once the cable is in position rotate the barrel adjuster so the cable can no longer fall out of the slot.

Take the cable outer casing and thread this back over the top of the steel inner cable.

Ensure the outer cable casing is pushed all the way onto the inner cable.

The cable outer casing will push all the way into the barrel adjuster.

Remove the plastic clip and feed the cable through the cable guide on the back of the fork.

Clip the plastic clip back over the cable once it is in position.

Make sure enough of the cable is pulled through the plastic clip so the end of the cable can reach the disc brake calliper.

Feed the cable through the top of the disc brake calliper.

The cable will reach down to the hex bolt at the base of the calliper

Using the 5mm hex key release the cable clamp bolt and feed the inner steel cable through the clamp. Tighten the cable clamping bolt using the 5mm hex key.

A small amount of the cable will be visible on the underside of the brake calliper.
